Wim Degrave, Coordinator of the Program for Technological Development of Health Products, Fiocruz
Graduated in Chemistry – Rijksuniversiteit Gent, Belgium (1980), with Masters and Ph.D. in Molecular Biology – Rijksuniversiteit Gent (1985), and póstdoc at the Pasteur Institute in Paris (’99-00). He is senior researcher of the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz – Fiocruz and head of the Laboratory for Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics. He has experience in genomics of micro-organisms and bioinformatics, with emphasis in functional genomics and biotechnology. His research envolves development of biotechnology products, synthetic biology, and comparative genomics of micro-organisms, such as mycobacteria, Bacillus and study of biodiversity. He is, since 2002, advisor to the Vice-president for Research of Fiocruz, and Coordinator of the Program for Technological development of Health products, Translational research, and of the Core Faciliteis Network of Fiocruz. He also holds a Masters in Project Management and is PMP certified since 2005.
