Victor Genu, Deputy General Coordinator of Patent, Head of Biotechnology, INPI Brazil
Victor Genu holds a Ph.D. in Sciences (Genetics) from the University of São Paulo (2007) and a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry from the State University of Campinas (2002), where he also graduated in Biological Sciences (1999). Since 2006 he is an IP Researcher at the Brazilian Patent Office (INPI). He served as a patent examiner in the technical divisions of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He was a member of the Genetic Heritage Management Council (CGEN) as INPI’s representative from 2011 to 2014. Since 2017 he has been head of the Division of Patents VII, which is in charge of examining patent applications in the fields of biotechnology, fermentation and enzymatic processes, among others. Since July 2019 he is also Deputy General Patent Coordinator (General Coordination II – CGPAT II).
