Spartaco Astolfi Filho, Emeritus Professor, UFAM / Member of the Scientific Council, Cristália / Permanent Professor, Postgraduate Program – BIONORTE
Spartaco Astolfi Filho was Born in Oswaldo Cruz, São Paulo, in 1952, where he attended elementary school. He finished high school at the Army Cadet Preparatory School (Campinas, São Paulo) in 1970. He graduated Bachelor of Biological Sciences from Universidade de Brasília – UnB in 1975, Master in Molecular Biology from UnB in 1978 and Doctor of Science from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro – UFRJ in 1987. He completed his Post-Doctorate in Genetic Engineering at the Institute of Science and Technology, University of Manchester (UK), in 1989. Spartaco was Professor of molecular biology and genetic engineering at UnB (1978 to 1987) and Universidade Federal do Amazonas – UFAM (1987 to 2019). He coordinated the Genomic Network of the Legal Amazon, the Multi-Institutional Graduate Program in Biotechnology (PPGBIOTEC / UFAM) and the Graduate Program in Biodiversity and Biotechnology of the Bionorte Network (PPG-BIONORTE). Currently, he is a Member of the Scientific Council of Cristália-Pharmaceutical Chemicals Ltda and Professor Emeritus of UFAM.
