Carlos Alvarado Ulloa, Director of Biotechnology, Technical University of Costa Rica
Carlos Alvarado Ulloa is a Costa Rican Biotechnology Engineer with a master´s degree in Manufacturing Systems, graduated from the Costa Rica Institute of Technology (TEC). He is currently Director of the School of Biology at TEC, where he also teaches at the Biotechnology Engineering program and he is a researcher at the Biotechnology Research Center (CIB) of the same university in the field of plant biotechnology, bio-business and intellectual property applied in biotechnology. He worked at the Technology Transfer Office at TEC with experience in academy-industry relationships and intellectual property. He is also part of the Board of Directors of CRbiomed, which is the first Costa Rican biotechnology cluster that seeks to develop the biotechnology sector in the country, through joint strategies between industrial sector, academia and government. He is also an external patent examiner at the Costa Rican Patent Office.
